Clown Colours

I have two gorgeous Ocellaris Clowns with perfect coloring but I have seen that my friend's similar (Percula) clowns have darkened along the top end and blackened up there. I have been told that the lighting in the tanks "Tans" the clowns so that the top end darkens like that, is this true? and is there any way of stopping it?
The tank is a 24G Nanocube with 2X36w PC lighting so it's not exactly overkillon the lights front...currently feeding the brown frozen cubes (myisys?) and Ocean Nutrition Nano Reef Food pellets.

Thanks

Jack

Your clowns won't get 'sunburn' under 72w of PC. However, they may darken with age. Feed cyclopeze flake as this is great for bringing out vibrant colours in fish.

True Percs can acquire a lot more black or darler colors than Occelaris, also.
