clown eges

how do people get the eges out of the main tank, can you scrape them of the rock or do you have to take the rock out

It's better if you can take the rock out the night before they hatch ! My clowns laid the eggs right above the anemone, so I have had to use a turkey baster with a small piece of plastic straw on the end to gently scrape them off.

my clowns put the eggs on a small flower pot, and I take them with the pot out the night they hatch.

do some reading and have some fun, everybody will tell you different things, but in the end you will find out that they are better off in your hands than in the wild.

Don't try and remove the eggs from whatever substrate they are laid on. You'll only damage them. If the eggs are on a rock that you can easily remove, you can remove the rock just before hatching into a small tank for hatching and rearing. Otherwise you'll need to let them hatch in the main tank and remove the larvae. Also, unless you already have some food cultures going, it's best to just leave them be and get ready for the next batch ;) After this batch hatches, try placing a tile over the spot they laid the eggs, they should end up laying the next batch on the tile. Now you'll have a nest on a nice removable tile ;)

Moving the substrate is the preferred method for many, but If necessary or convenient, the eggs can be removed from the substrate for hatching. This isn't perhaps a beginner's technique, but it can be used if needed to remove eggs from a non-moveable substrate when collecting the larvae isn't possible. I have done this in the past, and while % hatch-out isn't great compared to other methods, some is better than none :)
