Clown eggs not hatching

I have a friend thats working on tomato clowns right now. He had three spawns but each time only 10-15 clowns would emerge out of several hundred. Dont know what he could be doing wrong?

He moves the clown after 10 days or so into a growout with a small airstone next to the eggs. The eggs turn the silver color. at night he would cover up the tank in total darkness when expecting a hatch, but only a few make it.

what could he be doing wrong? any suggestions.

on my clutches i wait till the 8th day and have the heat up to 82 and bubble the eggs with good bubbles to where they dont stay stuck on eggs, trust me the dad beats the hell outta the eggs so dont be scared to put a little bubbles on them,,, then all lights out till the next morning and they should all hatch,,, are yall using parent tank water as well???

ocean, the tank is part of a system, but when the eggs are about to hatch, the water hatch tank is segregated from the whole system.

i didn't do the 82 degree and total darkness. i'll have to give that a try, thanks.

The eggs should be kept moving. Throw them under some air bubbles. What is the temperature of the breeding setup? The eggs should be in pretty much total darkness as well. I just throw a couple towels over it.

okay, so i should ensure that the eggs are moving at all times.

i'll turn up the air bubble or maybe i will be an air wand.

just beat those eggs up with bubbles and make sure once lights go out that they stay out till the morning... you should have fry everywhere!!!

definatley get the tank temp north of 80F. at 81-82 they should hatch in 7-8 days. I get better hatch rates with higher temp as well. What is your current temp?
