Clown finally found my RBTA

Three months ago I got an RBTA. I was hoping that my ocellaris clowns would take up residency in it, but knew this might not happen. Well, yesterday morning I saw my female clown diving around in the RBTA. I was/am so happy.

It's actually good that it took some time for this to happen. The anemone was kind of bleached out and has been recovering well. It is at full health now, so the timing is perfect. I don't know what would have happened if it hosted a clown during the recovery.

The female is starting to spend more time in there, and the male is skirting around the outside, a little reluctant to take the plunge. Soon enough, the 2 of them will be together in the anemone. I can't wait (well, after 3 months I have actually learned to wait).

Just needed to share this with you all. I will get some pics up sometime (actually the transition from bleached to healthy might be interesting to some anyway).

That's awesome, congrats! I bought my BTA about a week ago now so I guess I could be in for a wait for my 2 clowns to discover it. Definitely get those pics up ASAP!

when i purchased my wild caught clown i was hoping that it would host in rbta, never did. I bought a tank raised clown, 3 hrs later it was in the rbta. After several months finally both are hosting

We have hosting!

We have hosting!

My ocellaris clowns are both hosting my RBTA after four days of treating it like a leper, and I went off of the advice of my LFS owner concerning how to initiate hosting. He said mix up some food (in this case mysis shrimp and phykopure) and put it in a turkey baster, and squirt it (gently) into the nem, and my clowns went after the food. Sure enough, now I can't get them out of the thing. So any of you clown owners out there might want to try this method.

So it has been 4 months since my female clown decided to live in my RBTA. During this time, the male would sleep elsewhere at night and hover over the female during the day but never go in the anemone.

Finally, yesterday he too decided the RBTA looked inviting. He was dancing around in the edge of the anemone, but not completely inside like the female. Last night he finally slept in the anemone with the female! They are cuddled up together in there and look happy as can be (even though the anemone is not expanded at night so it is cramped quarters).

The anemone took a little while to stop shrinking when the female would get a little rough, but has accepted the fact that it is hosting now. It must be happy because it has not moved from it's spot since before my last post about this in October.

awesome idea about the turkey baster. i heard if you shine a flashlight into the nem the clowns will follow the light into the nem as well. i never was able to try a method cause my GSM took less than a week to dive in and when i got my pair of snows it was 3 days before one was in the nem. my 2nd snow recently died so he never felt the love of a rbta! hehe
