Clown finally hosting

My Maroon Clown has finally started hosting with my BTA.........after 2 months. But of course my BTA is not doing great anymore, can't figure out what's wrong with it. He's moving around the tank, looks like crap, and is all shrunken up. He has his moments when he opens up a bit and I think he's back, but then just as quick he shrinks up.

Here is a picture of the Clown trying to get in the BTA -

Pool guy, he really tries to get in and pushes and stuff...but the BTA is closed up. Maybe he'll open up now that he has a host.......time will tell.

The clown is working his butt of trying to get into the BTA, I'm hopeful that it will open up again and maybe come back.

I'm going to search around for a new BTA or RBTA..........that way the clown will have a good host if this one finally decides to die.

The BTA has looked like crap for about a month. Just this past Saturday is when the Clown finally started paying attention and trying to get into it.

What are your water parameters? I would not add another anemone until you figure out what is causing turmoil to your current one. I agree with ken, the maroon is probably going to do more harm than good. Lastly, I don't believe your lights are adequate to support a bta.

I would agree with ken, the bta might not have been doing good before but with the clown messing with it, im sure its not helping the cause any. i would try moving the clown to a different tank, and try feeding the bta some food.

How old is the tank and how long have the clown and anemone been in there? I had to wait a year before my tank could keep an anemone.

Yeah. Clowns can be extremely stressful for the anemone. After a number of tries resulting in dead anemones, I found that I could keep either anemones or clownfish, not both.

Yea for me too. On my previous 30 gal It was the same thing. I gave up and just kep the clown.
