Clown fish bullying an anemone to death.

I'm 100 % sure that that this is the problem.

I had 2 clowns happily hosting a sebea anemone in my tank. So when a friend asked me to help with his sick Magnifica (which I have also had in my tank with no health issues) I thought there would be no problems. The clown fish decided though to swap their healthy anemone to the sick one :-( They were killing it, so from this moment I have it now in a small net box, that allows water flow etc. The problem I have though, is that it was preferring to be low in the tank and not under the MH and so I would prefer to keep him were he wanted.

Any idea's on a good container that can be used at the bottom of the tank, allows great water flow and of course I can take the top off to feed him, when that finally happens.

Any other advice apart from removing the fish would be very gratefully received.

To "Help" the anenome you should have left it in your friends tank and gone there to do whatever needed to be done. Taking a sick nem and putting it in a different tank is not a good idea. Here we have strawberry baskets that are mesh. They work good for things like this. Also you could take some eggcrate and zip tie it together to make your own box for the nem...

Well I understand that, but when an Anemone has not eaten since he has had it in his tank for over 6 months and he has tried everything and it is shrinking away. What would you do? Leave it to die? or would you move it to a tank that had held the same species successfully?? I asked a question, not for an opinion.

Thanks for the idea though, I did that already.

Moving tanks isn't going to make it eat. If its having a problem it could be dealt with in the other tank just as well as yours.

Really?

I understand you didn't ask that but you are dealing with an animal that could potentially be hundreds of years old and it deserves to be handled with more care than you are giving it. You've taken it and acclimated it once again and put it in a tank with clowns. The last thing a sick nem needs. I was trying to help no need to be snippy. Don't bother replying because I'm off this thread.

Well, if you had read the original post properly, you would have already seen that I had already done what you had advised. As for a different tank, yes it could be a problem in the tank, all his soft corals also die, so maybe the tank is lacking in something.... He wouldn't have given it to me until after he had tried everything. As for the clowns, they were already hosted, who would know they would want to change nem?

As for being snippy, you were just stating the obvious and should have read the post properly.

I just get bored of people not even reading the original post and so not actually helping at all. All they want to do is put their 2 pence worth in.
