clown fish eating problems!

Well i just purchased a small school of false percs, 4 of them, and, they just spit everything out that the eat, its been 3 days, i soak it in garlic, sometimes they might eat a small piece, but, they dont eat like they should. I have always heard that they are finicky eaters, what should i do, give them more time, or different food, i feed them a mix of cyclopeeze, frozen mysis, and a omnivore frozen, i let them thaw in a bowl with garlic in the fridge, then feed with a spoon, letting the garlic drip off, let me know!!

no, they arent my only ones, i have several others, is it just because they are still getting used to it? im not going to use the garlic anymorelol, my wife hates it in the fridge, the smell!!!

How are they doing now? I have one tank bred false percula and she was eating SO well for the first week...today she was doing exactly what you described...I am FREAKING out!!! I am going to do a search to see what could be wrong....UGH! I hope your problem is solved...wish me luck with mine!

i dont know, i do know that well, i think that they will not let themselves starve to death, so, sooner or later they will eat. I feed them such a variety that i dont understand, it really frustrates me, they are tank raised so, this isnt anything new to them, everything else eats the food right up!!!!

Well i think i might have been worried for nothing..at least for now...tonight when i went to feed my corals, the clown darted over to the food and ate it all up...maybe i just got her at a bad time earlier...so weird.
I am thinking if this happens again (and parameters are good) that i will wait a full 24hrs before attempting to feed her so she will be really hungry..have you tried that with yours?

Why is everyone so into garlic? Just drop in a couple flecks of marine flake food and see if they eat it. If not wait a day unfed. Try again. If not some r/o rinsed bloodworms are sure to get them going...

I have some garlic that burns my tounge. I don't see why fish would like it. Unless it was just a slight seasoning. :)

Some fish are not used to floating food. They don't like getting air or getting that close to your hand or the light I guess. Some are not used to sinking crystals either. But I never saw a fish that didn't nuke a bloodworm in a hurry. If you still have a problem don't rinse them just drain them.

stagefright we were posting at the same time..i don't use garlic...well i did years ago when i had a fish in QT with ich (it worked) and fwiw i did use bloodworms today...she wanted nothing to do with them...as i said in my most recent post, i must have caught her at a bad time earlier...i am hoping this was just a fluke...she's my daughter's fish and i would hate for her to have any problems.

Oh ok. If it is a new fish sometimes excitement may curb their appetite temporally. It's not a big deal. Fish don't have to eat every day to survive.

Once they get comfortable they can get to be real pigs tho lol. :)

Then it is your job to resist the temptation of giving them what they want...

Yeah kind of like with kids lol! While i have your attention, will a false percula eventually host or will she just swim around all the time.
I don't have anemone's but i do have a galaxea and a very large hairy green mushroom. I thought she might want to host in either of them, but i am reading that some new clowns take awhile to host..just wondering if it's longer if they are not from the wild.
Thanks!

i really dont care for the garlic, it is just healthy for them also, but i am with you, i dont use it anymore, the smell is mainly why lol

I have seen various foods that come fortified with the garlic...they don't smell. I think the flakes i use (i rotate with frozen and flake) have garlic. I just don't add additional garlic...BUT, i probably would if i saw a fish stressed out and there was no way to put it in iso.

I think it's Formula One. I don't have a lot of livestock so a big container lasts awhile so i can't remember exactly if that's it lol!

well mine is being picky yet again...maybe she pigged out so much last night that she's not yet hungry for today...i need to stop stressing and leave the poor gal alone lol!

Try some spectrum pellet food. If they dont take to it by lump fish caviar they love it and its very good for them. As far as not eating watch for white stringy poop or bloated stomachs just to rule out internal parasites
