Clown Fish Eggs...

Well my clownfish laid eegs last weeks on the base of my elegance coral that they have claimed as "there home" in my 220 gallon tank. I have watched the eggs progress all week long whish has been pretty cool. At this point you can see 2 little eyes inside the eggs so I know they are alive and well. I know that in my 220 they will get eaten when that hatch. I am debtatin on if I should remove the elegance coral from my 220 keeping it submersed in water the whole time and move it over to my frag tank where the elegance coral would be the only thing in it? I am hesitant cause this is an indo elegance who has shown great health and no recesssion for quite some time. Guess I am asking what would you do?

Sounds rough, but if the clowns have done it once, they will likely do it again. Might be more safe to provide the reef with some free foods this time and come up with something you can put where they laid that you can easily remove for the next time. Putting them in the frag tank would probably help them survive for a bit, but if you haven't considered the food source for them, it might be a total loss anyway, thus risking your coral for nothing.

Just my 2 cents, I'm sure someone else might have a decent idea.

Once they are fish food they will lay again in a few days they always have.

Do some reading on the clown/nem forum and I think you will decide to leave your coral in place. Unless you are very well prepared with a prop tank, rotifer cultures, brine shrimp cultures, etc., there is 0% chance of any of the fry maturing. Even though clowns are about the "easiest" to breed in captivity, "easiest" is relative, and your baseline is basically "impossible" for most other fish. I did a lot of reading when I got my mated pair that had been laying eggs and wow, it is a serious labor of love to try to raise the fry.
