Clown Fish fry how to get rotis

well today i did 6 hrs of driving and got some rotis from reefdragon whom i am very grateful of i got alot of information which will help me keep the rotis alive and my clowns offspring... im hoping they will hatch tonight i moved the huge part of lr into the hactery picture will should be my next update =P

Did they hatch?

Did you put an air-bubbler under the LR/nest?

Fwiw - "generally" LR is a bad choice for bringing to a fry tank as the porous nature of the LR also allows unseen predators to be in there.

yes i realize the LR sucks as a nest this was the first eggs the clowns have laid i think i will be picking up a pot for the tank ..

i did put an air stone under the eggs...

Clowns

Clowns

Congradulations on your hard work to get this together in time. Make sure the air stone is not too vigorous as this will have an adverse effect on the eggs and fry. Nest time place a ceramic tile close to where the the clownfish are laying. Even if you are not successful this time you are getting the setup ready for the next batch. Even people with experience with raising clownfish ususally did not successed on the first try, but more power to you. Keep us updated.;)

IMO that will REALLY scare and bug the clowns plus it causes ammonia! I would take it out immediately and let the male fan the eggs as usual!

doing a 50% water change a day should prevent ammonia as well as having a ammonia badge

what do you consider to vigorous?? the airstone on the rotis is running off the same pump[ but with about double the power... its a light muti trickle of bubble maybe i will show with a video....

i thought they would hatch last night no luck? should i turn off the airstone to get them to hatch?

well i am going to goto the store and get an ammonia badge and some DT's.. I am praying they hatch today i might try and get a good video of the actual eggs and maybe show off the tank a little but that is to come later i am heading out for a little.

I am thinking they will be a few more days i couldn't see the orange(yoke) with my eye but the camera can see it clearly

the eyes are like metallic silver and the bodies are like a grey and in most pics (not of my eyes) i have seen the bodies are clear and the eyes are silver....

now i am tripping out lol.. they do look white could i have had the LR out of the water too long or what?? ugh what should i do ?

White means they are no longer alive. Try to figure out when the eggs will hatch as the next hatch will take the same number of days and then do not remove the eggs from the parent tank until the night of the hatch. The male is the best egg fanner. If this hatch does not work for you, no problem as you should get another chance soon. Sometimes, moving their rock upsets them and may delay the next egg laying. Here is a video of how much air I have used.

They look a little white but if they are dead, in a day or two they will be really really white and fall off the rock. I think they usually hatch from 7 to 10 days from egg laying depending on temperature and species. They can also die if your bubbles were too strong and they get beat up like punching bags.

how often will the clowns breed do you think?

this morning when i woke up the air stone wasn't directly under the eggs would that have killed them after 6 hrs or so i also had to hold the rock out of the water for like a min to get the nem off the rock. would either of those kill them

Each pair is different but when they first start laying eggs, they are not as regular as later when they are more experienced. My Clarkii are like clockwork. Every 10 days around 3:30 in the afternoon. My True Percs every couple weeks or months when they feel like it.
