Clown fish jumped out

Its been a rough month in the tank :sad2: First the cleaner disappears (stinking starfish) Then the clowns have been fighting for the last few days. Before church the smaller one jumps into the overflow while being chased by the bigger one. Then when we got home from church, the big clownfish is laying behind the tank on the stand. Any thoughs? tank is a 36x16x24. 2clowns are about 3", Hippo tang about 5", and one other small fish I can't remember right now.

Build a mesh top. The mesh is on sale here The rest is just a do it yourself window screen kit from any hardware store. Here is what it looks like. These tops dont block much light and save so many fish.:)

I don't mean to overstep but your tank doesn't sound quite big enough for those fish. Do you think space might have been an issue with the aggression?

Also +1 on the screen. I too have had fish slip over in to the overflow - what a pain.

No offense taken. I think your right. I got a larger tank in the works but its gonna be December before I get it running. I hope I can just hold what I got til then. Building a fish room to get everything in one place. Then putting about 18 of the 24" in the wall so the rest will be in the fish room.

How long have you had them and big are the clowns. Clowns change sex but I think this works better when they are small and sill gender nutral. http://www.petstation.com/clownfish.html

I bought the clowns together at Petco several months ago. one grew bigger over time so I was guessing it was the female. It was definitely the dominant one. It just seems the aggression has escalated over the last few weeks. I guess I don't have to worry about that now... I think they have heard all the talk about the 180 in the garage and were deciding who got first pick of caves..:hmm3:

before my clownfish hosted in their anemone, they would sleep at the top of the tank. I think they would get startled in their sleep and jump in the middle of the night. I lost two before I figured out to cover the tank.
