Clown fish stays outside the rocks.

My clown stays outside the rocks / coral in the same area out in the open. Is this normal?

I have several that do the exact same thing in seperate tanks and three different species so I would have to say resoundingly yes that is normal. Regards Wes

Mine did the same until I introduced a BTA to it. And now it doesn't go more than 5" away from its new friend. I don't think it is anything to worry about.

Depends on the species.
Mine frequently spend the day swimming around in the open and then go back to their host - the overflows.
