Clown fish to host anemone tip

Well I have two clowns that I put into a tank and wanted them to host my nem. After two days of staying the the return and overflow and not hosting I took matters in my own hand. I removed the male and put him in a breeders net. Closer to the nem. Left him be. Only took less then 5 mins for the female to host. Then I release the male and he followed. I think sometimes having a pair to host a nem might be harder then trying to get one to host. It's like a unless circle. The male follows the female for safety and the female does the same. If you take one out of the equation one hopefully find safety in that nem you wanted them to host.

It worked for me and hopefully might work for you if you wanted to try it. Remove one and see. If nothing happens then try the other way. Catch the female and let the male explore. It only takes one fish to host a nem for the other to follow.

Good tip, they probably would have eventually hosted anyways. But at least you didn't chase the fish around with stick to get them to host. No joke, there was someone (on another forum, I think) who did this. Boy did he catch flak for that one.

mine never did until i woke up in the middle of the night and had a look at the tank and it was sleeping in the anemone :)
since then it always sleeps in the anemone but doesn't during the daylight. oh i did a bucket trick :)

Anemones host Clownfish....Clownfish do not host anemeones... ;)
