clown fishes dark spot

Hi,

Does anyone know why some clownfishes develop dark spot on their body.? They eat a lot and I am sure they won't die, but they don't look very nice.

Depending on what it looks like, it can be a couple of different things. Often they get dark patches in response to an irritation. IME, this has come most commonly when they decide to host in zoanthids.

Besides hosting in zoanthids, what else could cause this kind of dark pathes?

Some will get it hosting in just about anything. I've seen them get it from frogspawn and other Euphyllia corals, and from some soft corals.
