Clown goby addition

Hey all,
I am thinking of adding a new fish to my setup and wanted to see if there would be any issues. I have a 24 gal with mostly LPS corals (frogspawn, acans, hammer, green sinularia, greenstar polyps, some zoas, etc) and probably 25+ lbs of rock. The inhabitants are as follows...
1. Tiger pistol and watchman goby
2. peppermint shrimp
3. Firefish goby

Does anyone foresee an issue with adding a clown goby ?

clown goby will be a great choice. just keep in mind that they perch on corals, which may harm the coral

...but the corals the OP listed will be fine with the perching.

Very cool fish, but I had to remove mine. He gets along fine with all the other fish, but... If he was only perching on my nice SPS pieces, maybe we could have worked it out, but he was a nipper. Zero PE for days after he went in.

Didn't bother any LPS or softies though.

Clown gobies are great little fish, and none of your existing fish will bother him. He doesn't look much like a goby, and he tastes bad enough that nothing will nip him.

I would add a skeleton of a branching SPS (Acro or Birdsnest) for them. You should be able to find one at a local store. They often toss the skeletons of corals that died into their sumps.

have 2 clown gobies mated pair , they started getting territorial after the started breeding . So keep that in mind and the eggs they laid in the branches of my frogspawn and killed sections of it , so another thing to keep in mind .

Do you have any nice SPS pieces (acros) that you're particularly fond of? I do.

I added a Yellow Clown Goby and within 24 hours I had ZERO PE on my nicer SPS, about 5 pieces. After watching for a bit, the YCG was making the rounds, from one frag to the next. He would perch in it, then hover next to it, then NIP at the coral before moving on to the next. All day long.

He's been moved back to the QT, where he doesn't bother anybody.

Too bad though, I enjoyed seeing him in the tank.

well I do have 1 acro in my 24 gal just to see how they would do, tank is mainly LPS. I do have a 10 gal tank that has been running for about 5 months now, Just live rock in there. I was considering putting one in there but not sure about the size.

I have one that doesn't bother SPS at all. He perches, the corals just don't care.
Gotta mind two though, they will purposely kill patches of sps to lay eggs.
If you do add an old skeleton of something, don't be fooled into thinking it will stay white, or clean, or not trap anything that floats. Its not a bad idea, it will just likely require some maintenance.
