Clown hosting torch, getting black spots

So my perc. is hosting the green torch I got a few weeks back, and I've been noticing the last few days that along the back 2/3 of her body she's got little black/dark spots. She's about 2, 2 1/2 inches long, only fish in the tank, happy as a clam, and the only change[for her] has been the torch/hosting it. I got some softies recently too, but she never goes near them, so....
If anyone can shed some light on this, it'd be great:o.

If it were me i would leave them as long as the fish still eats and looks healthy. But i have only had experience with clowns and anemones, I have never had a clown being hosted by a euphyllia

My 3 clown fish only host the frogspawn, hammer and the torch. Even though there is a big anenome in the tank, they don't even go near. The frogspawn and hammer will sting them once in a while and you see dark spots but they have defense mechanism in their skin and will heal themselves. They sleep in the frogspawn everynight.

I would leave yours along. The fish will be fine.

There have been cases of people's clownfish loving their lps to death. LPS are more sensative it seems to constant irritation of a clown, and can sometimes have tissue recession. As long as this doesn't happen you'll be fine.

I've seen on a fellow reefers clowns similar black spots to the ones you're describing. It seems to us that the clown fish sometimes darts into the torch when startled and crashes into the skeleton of the torch causing skin damage. Due to this clownfishes age it's our guess that these black spots are a sort of scar on the fish from crashing into the skeleton.
In my own tank i've got a pair of clowns that have been having a hard time bonding. The male has taken several "beatings" over the last 14 months and has several small black spots along his mid section, where the female bites him most often. I belive these spots are also a type of scar on the fish.

Hope that helps some.

yeah, that's really helpful. so do you guys think the benefit of hosting outweigh the trouble it's causing her? i'm not really sure how to approach this:sad2:
