Clown Hosting

I added a frogspawn to my tank partially because I love how they look and in part because percula's have has SOME success hosting. I added my frogspawn about 3 weeks ago and my perc has paid little attention to it up until the last week. He lately has been hanging out under it. He sticks around for quite a while and will leave from time to time, but then returns.

Is this the beginnings of him hosting?

When clowns host do they take to it immediately or do they ease into it?

I meant to post pics, but I forgot to load them on my computer last night.

my maroon does the same thing, except she hangs out behind it. She will run a few laps aroud the tank then BAM!, right back behind the frogspawn. But guess where she sleeps at night?
In a freakin bubble coral. Wont go near the bubble all day then as soon as the lights go out she is tucked in for the night. anyway to answer your question I doubt it will host in it like it would in an anemone, but given the chance she would most likely lay eggs under/near it.

also as a side note... i have heard a bunch of times that clowns can aggrivate a frogspawn if they choose to host in it and cause it to not open up all the way... so maybe you dont want him hosting in it..

mine does something similar with my branch of zoos... skips out on them all day and then at night, rubs up on the branch that has zoos on it..

That is a concern of mine. I am fascinated with the hosting phenomon. I would love for it to happen in my tank. With my luck, when and if it happens it will irritate my coral and make it miserable.
