Clown ID please

Twinkies everything
Ok this is getting out of control. I have a person I know who had another "Problem" with his tank. Now I have a clown it is bright orange and has a single blue stripe. I can't get a pick of it it keeps hiding in my rocks. Just an idea of what this is would help I'll try to get a pic tonight. The reason I took it is cause he calls and says the thing would have died (did the same thing to me last week with a foxface) As of now his tank is drained and he can not buy more fish, I hope. Any help would be great and like I said I will try for a pic when it eats tonight. It did eat a little last night. Thanks

Well there are six complexes of clownfish but with only one stripe, DEPENDING ON ITS AGE, it is more than likely in the Tomato or Clarkii complex.

The Tomato complex includes, A. rubrocinctus, A. ephippium, A. frenatus, A. mccullochi, A. melanopus.

The Clarkii complex includes, A. akindynos, A. allardi, A. bicinctus, A. chagosensis, A. chrysogaster, A. chrysopterus, A. clarkii, A. fuscocaudatus, A. latifasciatus, A. tricinctus.

My guess would be just a regular cinnamon or tomato as well because they can be found pretty often at a relatively low price. Post a picture and we will be able to tell you.

Best pic I could get

I would have to disagree and say tomato because of the fact that the fins are not darkened. However, when you say it does have a blue stripe (can't tell from the pic) that makes me think that it is a Cinnamon Clownfish. Although I have seen blue tinted stripes on Tomato clowns.

Do you have any idea on how old it is?

It is ablue tinted stripe and I have no idea how old. It looks happy and even came out to check out the place today I tried to feed it a little today and it ate.

Ok i'll go with Tomato Thanks This is the last fish I can take for now. hope this person learned?

But it is a cool looking thing

if that tail is yellow like it looks to be on my monitor, I'll vote for a Cinnamon clown over a straight Tomato.

They are very nice looking indeed and she is a beauty. I would gladly take her off of ya if ya lived closer :)

I would have to say ummm no:)

Hold on.....after taking out my contacts for the night since they were bugging my eyes, she does indeed appear to be a cinnamon from the Solomon islands. She does look to be A. melanopus. The Solomon Island variety has the dark patch on the side. I bought one a month or so ago and you can go to that post for an ID. Or give me a sec and I can pull up the photos.

I guess this is why we get these threads:)

Now I am confused, if the pick you just posted is a Cinnamon from the Solomon Islands, then that is exactly what it is. They look near to identical, however his maybe a year or two older than the fish in the pic, as his seems to be a larger dark spot on its sides.
