The title says it. I am puting together a nano and I want a Percula. Can it be done in a 5 gallon?
8 Gallon?

A pair in 8 gallons? I know it will be a bit of a squeeze but I wont try if the clown will be miserable. I have seen a clown in a 4 gallon that looked healthy and happy.

Opinions?

you could keep a pair in 8gallons although the thing is the evap rate would be greater thus levels constantly changing. You could even stretch it and put them in 5gallon space assuming you have a sump and not too much LR.

Well I had my 10 Gallon tank prepared as an All-In-One
The display section to the right was a tiny bit over 5 gallons.

Well I just got done cutting all the divisions out and breaking glass and making a mess so I am back to a bare 10 Gallon.
I'll be removing the two leftmost baffles and sliding everything down to the end of the tank. That makes a 7.75 Gallon display.

These are the only four rocks going into the tank (unless they are frag rocks of course).

I think I feel good about a single percula in there. I might consider a pairing down the road if things are going well for the one.

The space in the picture is not what I will be using. Basically the last chamber on the left will be partitioned and everything else will be display area. Nearly 8 full gallons.

Also, ILLiDaN, why change your mind from your opinion in our PM discourse? Does it have to do with the SHAPE as well as the VOLUME?

It looks like a pretty neat tank that you made. If it was me I might get a small small clown and have him in there by himself and maybe after he grows bigger you can upgrade the tank and get another clown to pair up with it. JMO

Thanks Magga Pie.
I originally wanted there to be a fuge, skimmer and return chhmber all in the stock tank but have decided on something a little bigger. I'll just have the skimmer and return chamber and then mod a HOB refuge.

On the "bigger tank" note, ive got a custom 60 gal cube sitting in my garage that I haven't even gotten wet yet. I'm singing the economy blues like nobodies business right now.
