Clown making a bed???

So I have had my two clowns in my DT for about three weeks. All is good, they are eating well and swimming around good and getting along. I've even seen the smaller one "stand straight up and wiggle' in front of the bigger one. :)

Question is, in the corner area where the tend to sleep there is a small area they made a hole about 1/4 of the depth of the sand bed. Looks to be about 2.5" around. Any reason for this? It is the area they go to every night when it's lights out. No anemone as the tank is only 4 months old. All water params seem good: PH 8.1 Ammonia 0 Nitrites 0 Nitrates @5. (WC coming this weekend) It's just a FOWLR for now.

Thanks willy0508

thanks all, wanted to make sure all was good. Glad they have their little bunker. Hope to get them an anemone later down the road but want them happy until that day comes.

Wait til they start re-aquascaping your tank. My 5 inch GSM picks up frags and moves them around. She has swept away a 4 inch sandbed more times than I can count. She regularly picks up snails or hermits that get near her anemone and carries them to the other side of the tank. What a PITA!

My clarkii used to dig her sandbed all the way to the glass. At the time, I had a small plastic "coral" as a place for her to be hosted. She'd roll it around, and up and down her piles of sand. It was hysterical!
