Clown Tang compatability?

I have a 225 gallon tank with a 7" Male Naso Tang, 5" Red Sea Sailfin Tang, and a 4" Blue dot grouper. I added a 5" purple with the red sea sailfin last week and he got beat up by the Naso, even after removing the naso for a day. I took the purple out and am trading it for a 4" clown tang. Any advice on how the clown will do? I heard that they are not as mean as the NASTY SOHAL Tangs, which i had and removed. Thanks for your advice, and please advise...

Well they are pretty much up their with aggresiveness as the sohal tang.. It could work though, hopefully the clown will be able to hold its own against the naso tang. Strange naso's usually arn't the aggresive ones.

I agree about the Naso, but mine is a Male and 7" which makes him the largest fish in the tank. It makes him a tough guy. Do you think the red sea sailfin will be ok with the clown?

the clowns are really aggressive and they can be hard to take care of. make sure the one you get is eating thats one of the hard parts. watch for ich and feed a good diet

Yes they should be ok since their two different tang species, but sailfin could give it a hard time or the clown could assert itself by giving the rest of your fish a hard time.

I say go for it, but just be prepared that it could rule the tank and maybe stress the other fish out. Tank should be large enough where you shouldnt have to worry to much but every fish is different.

Look at my images in my gallery the tank is a 225 gallon 6'x24"x30" with only 3 other fish... I do think he will rule by my 7" naso is a bad *** and may be able to win him over. I ordered one and it is 4" should be here in a week.

The stress that the clown would cause would not make the sick suseptable to parasites would it? As they are super healthy and strong now.

Anything that stresses your fish can lead to becoming sick, but i doubt your fish will have any problems they are fairely large now and should be able to handle their own. Maybe down the road things could change depending on the clowns behavior but i think you will be fine.

Im not saying its going to happen just giving you heads up on what could happen. Should be fine though all tangs species are a different besides the sailfin and purple but their already in their fine together so everything should work out.

I had one for almost 6 months until my tank crashed and he was fine with my other tangs. My Kole Eye actually whopped the clown up a few different times.
