Well those who know me, know I love rare fish. So as always I check out whats for sale on Ebay from time to time. The clown trigger has always been an all time favorite of mine. If it wasn't for their Jekyl and Hyde personality i would always keep one. So I have only kept them on few occasions through the years. So when I saw the picture of this Clown it definately peaked my interest. Not sure if this is the actual fish that is up for auction, but none the less this is one awesome looking Clown Trigger. i have sent him a question about whether this is the actual trigger for sale. I have not seen many color morphs of the clown trigger, except for sone pink ventral and dorsal fins, more black than yellow and vice versa. i have never seen anything like this. Anyone ever see a Clown trigger like this? Having black within the white spots on the lower portion of the body? Quite a stunning looking fish!!!!!! Tim

Very nice looking and no I've never seen it.

Although I do like them with more yellow across the back, it's too bad, imo, that this fish doesnt display that also.

I think it might be a pic of a dead specimen - hence the lack of colour :( ...... maybe.......

i have seen this sort of color morph before, the white spots are a bit odd but the lfs i frequent has had these a few times. this lfs get all kinds of rare/ odd stuff.

Yes the picture, after I did some research is from Randall from thousands of slides he has of unfortunately dead fish. The fish was found in the Phillipines and the pictures from 1997. Gotta love how people on Ebay and some online retailers for that matter show extremely rare beautiful examples of the species they have for sale. It is the polar opposite of i.e Diver's Den WYSIWG. These people and some online retailers hope that they get lucky and one person thinks that the picture of the fish is the one that will be showing up at their doorstep.

One of the many reasons I love reef fish is color variations and trying to figure out why they would occur?? Many color morphs are attributed to diet in a very specific locale. This has some what been proven by the fact that those fish these color morphs quickly change back to their 'normal' color. IMO there is no proof that diet is the cause of these variations as many say the reason for the Gold Undulated Trigger. Pic below. Well what ever the reason, have to love to odd balls. I guess us oddball fish people as many see us relate to those oddball fish......
