Clown Triggers

Ok I know many people will say don't do it, never work but I see so many posts about people who have kept them in their reefs. Cleanup crew I get and that is the price I pay for having a blue spotted puffer and a harlequin tusk so that doesn't bother me at all.

I did have a Niger trigger for a while in my tank and he was great for a few years, started to get aggressive so I took him out. Would it be the same with a clown or is it so much quicker that it isn't worth it.

Wouldn't start out with a big guy, actually a very small one.

I will probably catch heck for this but if you have a LFS that will take him back in a couple years, go for it. They are reef safe because they get so attached to eating from your hand, they get to lazy to hunt. I had a such an LFS that would trade me a 1 1/2" for my full grown six inch every couple years.

they are not reef safe what so ever, fish, corals, inverts are all at risk. could be fine one day and then decide everything looks tasty.

+1 if you want reef safe which would include fish I would go for crosshatch, sargassum (red tail), pink tail (not all are reef safe) or goldenback (always 8” plus when collected) blue throats lose all their color typically. Mauritius triggers are another good, but pricey choice
