I have had a Gold stripe marroon for almost 6 months and introduced a fancy ocellaris I got for free a month ago. They stayed in opposite sides for a month . A few days ago the marroon started chasing the ocelaris a few times a day and yhe ocelaris will start twitchinf on its side then the swim in circles. After this a few nips and the marroon goes back to the nem. Is this bad do I have to remove the ocellaris?

General consensus seems to be unless u have a big tank, don't mix different species of clown together.

Sent from somewhere using something.

Yea I see where you guys are coming from . But after reading and doing some research this appears as a mating dance . Have any of you guys seen this between two different clowns like mine? It appears as if the ocellaris is submitting to the maroon .

JMO but that’s no matting dance you are seeing and the odd behavior by the ocellaris is a sign of submission. Giving the highly aggressive nature of the maroons and being different species, in time there will only be one clownfish in that tank weather you remove one or not.

The male will twitch to show submission. Mine do this all the time. They have been together for about a year now and I don't think they have fully established dominance. The one looks like it's having a seizure. Now being you have one maroon and one ocellaris the nipping might be a problem.

Hopefully they can live together. Nipping has been minimal in my observation. But they do swim together for parts of the day.

maroon and ocellaris dont mix together but sometimes there are exemption to the rules, but would I sacrifice the ocellaris to experiment if I will be one of those...NO. If you want a pair trade in your ocellaris with another maroon or just remove the ocellaris.
