\Clownfish/ 29 Gallon BioCube Tank

My standard torch is out of control. Has quadrupled in size since I got it late December. Going to have to move it to the back. They can take a lot of flow, very fun to look at.

Yeah I have 2 new heads growing off the back of this one. Should be able to frag it in a few months for creditat the lfs.

Day #28

Parameters Today

Salinity - 1.025
PH - 7.9
Ammonia - 0 ppm
Nitrite - 0 ppm
Nitrate - 20 ppm
Phosphate - 0 ppm
Calcium - 400 ppm
Alkalinity - 11 DKH

My nitrates are high so tomorrow early morning I will be doing a water change to lower them again. Tomorrow morning I also get my GSP so I'll be posting pics of that. Xenia is growing like a weed so I might be fragging two pieces off of it and posting them on Craigslist. Any other colorful torches out there?

Today I got my GSP and placed them near the Xenia on its own rock. They are still not opening but I'll give them time to adjust to the new tank. Before I placed the GSP in the tank I also did a water chnage and cleaned the cuc poop. Hopefully the GSP opens in a few days  I also noticed a transparent kinda worm but it moved so fast I couldn't catch it.

Just turned my tank lights off and noticed a glowing bug swimming around. This thing is bright. Do you guys have any idea of what it could be? I would take a picture but it's hard to get. :uhoh2:

Thank you Spinelessspade :celeb2:

This morning my GSP is finally opening! Slowly but surely it will be fully open. I thought it would take more days but they are just well adjusting now.
I will be posting today's parmeters.

Hmm I don't think so cause the pod I seen are copepods and a few ampibipods. This thing glows like a neon green glo stick.

Day #30

Parameters Today

Salinity - 1.027 (lowered it)
PH - 8.0
Ammonia. - 0 ppm
Nitrite - 0 ppm
Nitrate - 5.0
Phosphate - 0 ppm
Calcium - 440 ppm
Alkalinity - 11 DKH

My Xenia closed away yesterday since the water change, probably because the nitrates were a little high and it loves it but today they are much brighter in color and opening back up. I also managed to buy a rasta polyp on Ebay for $10 plus shipping which wasn't much since its in the same state. once I get the frag I'll post pics and I'm sure by then the GSP will be fully open.

Update On Coralline Algae:

I am starting to see major growth everywhere on my rocks. I have green, pink, purple, red, and an orange looking type as well. Exciting! :inlove:

On chamber I have live rock rubble (small pieces) and a large Eshopps Sump Sponge. Chamber two another sump sponge, Protein Skimmer, SeaChems Biofiltration media, and chamber three I have my cobalt NeoTherm heater 100W and the stock return pump and some matrix carbon by seaChem.

Day #32

Parameters Today

Salinity - 1.027
PH - 8.0
Ammonia - 0 ppm
Nitrite - 0 ppm
Nitrate - 5.0 ppm
Phosphate - 0
Calcium - 440 ppm
Alkalinity - 11 DKH

My GSP is finally open and looking great. I am really excited to see it grow longer tentacles so it makes it look fuller. My rasta polyp arrived today and I am still waiting for it to open.

I feel I should warn you. The Xenia and GSP corals and great beginner corals and beautiful to watch, but they can take over your tank. If you want to keep them in your tank, make sure you put them on their own rock and separated from any other rocks.

You will also need to keep an eye on them regardless, they can jump from one rock to the next.

Your tank looks great and you have done a great job organizing your needs. It seems like you really love Torches. I have one, but I like hammers, Frogspawns and Octospawns better.

Below are some pictures of my Frogspwan, Hammers and my Favorite, the Orange Octospawn. Keep it up and good luck with your tank.

4 blue leg hermit carbs
5 Drawf Cerith
5 Nerite Snails
3 Nassarius Vibex
2 Turbo snails

I didn't want a large clean up crew so I wouldn't have to worry about feeding them I case they ran out of food. They have been doing an amazing job and I can only see very little diatoms in the sand.

My rasta still has not open today, I'm starting to wonder if the shipping stressed it to much and it not going to make it. I hope it does and if it does not I guess it wasn't much of a loss and but finding Rastas are hard to come by..:sad1:

Wish someone warned me about Blue Clove Polyps, I had ONE, one single polyp that came in on a hammer coral and now there are EVERYWHERE!

Day #33

Salinity - 1.026
PH - 8.0
Ammonia - 0 ppm
Nitrite - 0 ppm
Nitrate - 5.0 ppm
Phosphate - 0 ppm
Calcium - 440 ppm
Alkalinity - 11 DKH

I spotted a three inch bristleworm yesterday and took that thing out! I know they are good for the tank but that thing was ugly as sin! :deadhorse1:
My green coralline is spreading everywhere and even on the glass which is a pain at scraping off. It looks good on the rocks though. Other types of coralline are also spreading pink, purple, red.

Yesterday I also purchased a torch coral where you can see below. It should ship either Monday or Tuesday so I'm excited about that. The torch has amazing color which is what I'm looking for :p other than that the tank has a few sand diatoms but they disappear very quick which I love. Will be posting tank pics sometime this week.
