\Clownfish/ 29 Gallon BioCube Tank

you ever set up an ATO?

If the water level is all over the place that might be driving some of the micro bubble issues.

I must admit though that I am not familiar with that skimmer so someone with one would be better able to lend a hand.

I haven't set one up yet but hopefully in the following weeks I will :)

Water level is very stable it's just the skimmer. The bubbles are coming out of the water in take sides to the right since that is where I have it placed.

Oh you have it in chamber one? Have you tried to move it to the second chamber? The bubbles would be cut down considerably since they would have to go through the pump. That said the second chamber has more variability in its water level.

what all do you have in chamber 2?

I was able to fit the larger tunze 9001 in the second chamber along with the intank media rack and a small area for my chateo.

Day #17

Parameter Today

Salinity - 1.023 (will be raising soon since today I will do a 30% water change)
PH - 7.9
Ammonia - 0 ppm
Nitrite - 0 ppm
Nitrate - 10 ppm (higher than yesterday but will lower with water change)
Phosphate - 0.15 ppm

So today I decided to buy the firefish and wait on the two clowns. He or she is now in QT and have him or her in here for 3 weeks and see if there are any signs of disease or parasites. I will be feeding him mysis shrimp, Then he will go in the tank with the clean up crew once those three weeks are up.

Good luck man. It feels good when things hit this stage and you can start to see the fruits of your labor.

Hopefully you dont go through the GHA battle I am fighting with my cube. I have my reactor getting delivered tomorrow to step up my game against the GHA

Thank you! I'm excited for seeing the fishy swim in the tank. Wish you the best luck with getting rid of that nasty GHA!!!

following along here. just setup my biocube a few weeks ago. finally added o. clownfish and purple pseudochromis. probably 2 more fish next week. then maybe some corals.

re:gha problem. are you using ro/di water? i use ro/di and only had diatom bloom, which cuc took care of

yes tin man RODI with 0 TDS. Though phosphates are most likely coming from my rock. I used reel reef rock which reading up on them do tend to leach phosphates even though they are "live spored" rocks.

I also overfeed as my 2 year old puts more then she should when she tries to help me. A skimmer and reactor should easily handle everything.

ok cool. i soaked my brs rock in rodi water for 7 days, changing the water out every day, hoping that would help leach out any phosphates.

Day #18

Parameters Today

Salinity - 1.024
PH - 7.9
Ammonia - 0 ppm
Nitrite - 0 ppm
Nitrate - 10 ppm
Phosphate - 0.15

Today I'm doing a water change and removing cuc poop. The firefish is going great so far. There are no signs of illnesses and I fed him mysis shrimp with a little bit of garlic juice. He ate it righ5 up and is swimming just fine.

Tank Today

Cleaning Crew is still cleaning away at the rock and glass. Skimmer still producing tons of micro bubbles and making an annoying sound (not as loud as last week)I want to go get the reef master test kit and start checking my other levels so I can start having coralline algae spreading all over my rock. I do have some coralline growing already on one rock which is really cool. :) Do I need any supplements for calcium, etc...?
You don't need any supplements for coralline, just give it a few good months and save your money for fish and coral. Besides, adding supplements just for coralline is going to throw your levels off and stress everything. Time and W/C's are the best thing to get coralline going.

Salinity 1.026 (increased it little by little and this will be my permanent reading)
PH - 7.9
Ammonia - 0 ppm
Nitrite - 0 ppm
Nitrate - 10 ppm
Phosphate - 0.25
