\Clownfish/ 29 Gallon BioCube Tank

Since I don't have an anemone, I'm thinking my 2 new clowns are either going to try and host in my hammer or frogspawn. I'll see in a few weeks when they come out of QT.

My old tank 40G tall, I used to have 2 true perculas and about 5 different anemones, they would not host in any one, and often nip at a couple of them. Totally not needed, and if they die, they will nuke your tank. I personally would wait another few months before getting any type of anemone.

Ive been thinking about anemones and i do want to try one, still not sure if i wanna risk loosing my tank because a nem. Starting over would be a real pain in the a$$.

my clowns ignore my LPS. I have some nice pieces that they could host but they just do not care. Its hit or miss with many of them and it is a risk with a nem taking out corals as they find a spot they like...

It's not guaranteed they'll host a bubble tip tho
Sorry pet peeve, anemones host clowns not the other way around..

Its his only shot, I wouldn't recommend a carpet in a 29 for someone who hasn't kept anemones. It seems his clown want to host is why I suggested trying a rose or maybe a doreensis they will stay in the sand bed at least.

No problem about the pet peeve man, we all have at least one, and I wouldn't recommend a carpet either but a 29 just seems to small for an nem, that's just my opinion tho

I want to purchase one of these pieces (most likely the second one)but wondering if you guys know what they usually go for?

Buy them both! JK Depends on where you are, I came from Upstate NY where they were usually around $30-$40 a head, but down here in FL the piece on the right would go for an easy $350..

The second pic with the three heads is going for 180 not including shipping, i might have to bite the bullet and get it lol!

just beware that the lighting they are using is HEAVY on the uv/blue so they might look a bit more faded in your tank.

What site are you looking at?

Coral imports :) i figured it would be a bit lighter in color but once i upgrade my lighting :P it gon look good hehehe

its not once you upgrade your lighting though but how you edit the colors. That pop in color is mainly due to the blue and uv lights. You wont get as much pop in a home tank typically save for night lighting...

its a fine balance at home as you want white and such to bring out the colors in your fish and some contrast but the corals really pop more with just blue and uv lighting.

The more blue/uv the more pop but the less color in the fish/rock/ect. Balancing act...

Most online sites though seriously pump up blue/uv to give more pop and make the corals much more presentable which I cant fault them on but you have to keep in mind

The guy at my LFS laughs at me since I will bring in a flash light to add some white to his tanks which are overly blue. Though now he sees me coming in and he flips the radions to more full sprectrum for me to see what they would look like in my tank.

I found a hole in the wall reef store. The guy is great for his regulars and quite frankly I have spent a small fortune there in just a couple months on corals and fish. He messages me on FB when he gets in something he knows I will like as he must do for others as well. It is that touch of customer service that has my business.

Heck he is watching for Marineland to have their next sale so I can get my 150 cube and start that venture. We are going to get everything together in the shop and he is going to come help set it up in my house. Now if he could just find a way to loosen the wife's grip on those purse strings.

I love hole in the wall shops though. Sure you might pay a bit more on some things (his dry goods for instance) but they go out of their way for you. I have a similar online store for all my motorcycle parts. They have no storefront online per say but have a ton of "friend" items that they sell or will get in at cost for you...
