Clownfish and anemone sold as pair

As I was surfing through different saltwater sites, I found a website that sold clowns that had already paired to anemones. The only problem is back then I did not have any interest and now I would like to buy that package. Has anyone seen the website I am talking about?

they will charge you way to much there is no reason not to just buy them seperate and save some dough
most clowns sold as pairs with anemones are markedup about 100%

I agree...you're gonna pay way too much for something that you can do on your own, and probably get healthier specimens doing it.

Edit: forgot to mention that there's no guarantee that the clowns will keep hosting the anemone in your system, and with ordering online there's certainly no guarantee the anemone will survive the ship.

like even pairs of clowns are rediculous 199 bucks for two tank bred percs
i always pair my own
plus then you get whatever clowns and anemones that the place has you dont get to chose the right anemone
and your 36g tank is really only big enough for a BTA and most of the pairs sold are pink skunks in LTA or Carpets
let us help you pair them its more rewarding and fun that way

I think Blue Zoo sells clowns that are hosting with nems. Check them out, they are on this board. For what it is worth I got two pairs of oc clowns from them, reg oc, and black oc from Australia. They both were super nice pairs, expertly packed and shipped, and nice people to work with. You could tell just looking at the box these people care about fish. I can't wait to order again. They often have Akindynos and Bicinctus, but I may get a GSM pair, at about $79, I'd say their prices arn't bad either.

i won a contest on the blue zoo website and they sent me all kinds of free stuff go blue zoo

i just checked it out and they only have BTA and occelaris pairs and then its only one clown and the nem not two

Personally I would try to pair up my own nems and clowns, but it is hard to find bubble tips nems in my area. You can get lta all day long for 30 bucks, but when you find a bubble you'd better grab it at 50. Rose bubbles are 70 to 100 WHEN you can find them. Man you guys on the West coast get a chance at all sorts of stuff that never makes it East. My only point was if I was looking for a nem/clown pair 44 bucks (Blue Zoo price for small ocellaris clown/small BTA) is not even going to get you a bta at the lfs. Even with freight (very economical from Blue Zoo) it is a good deal if that is what you want. For me, I have never personally met a Maroon that didn't love a BTA at first sight, but I know some people wait months for their false perc to snuggle up with a nem. Send blue zoo a message from this board or better yet call them if you want the good stuff. When I got my two pairs they had a pair of Nigripes, some newly paired allardi, and a couple of other good clowns.

quick newbie ?

quick newbie ?

Is it that anemones don't sting clownfish, or that clowns are immune to the stings that allow them to live together???

One or the other... or both.

Nobody knows for sure but both immune due to a thick slime coat or fooling the 'nem into not firing its nemocysts are both possible reasons.

There's a whole list of plausible theories, but the bread and butter of all of them is that the anemone for whatever reason tends to not fire off nematocysts in the presence of the clownfish.
