Clownfish and Anemone

Does anyone know any tricks to get a clownfish into an anemone? I have a tomato clownfish and a sebae anemone, but the clownfish does not want to go into the anemone.

I just placed the new tomato clownfish in today. I have had the anemone for years. The previous tomato clownfish I had that paired with the anemone died from old age. The old clownfish went directly to the anemone when first placed in the tank.

How old was that clown? They can live up to 20 years.

One day is nothing, it could take days, weeks, months.......

Haha. I just postulated the old age. He must have died from natural causes or something, I have no idea. I know the new clown is tank raised.

The only natural host for Tomato clown is BTA. In captivity, they may go into some other anemones.

i know a trick that worked for me

wait until it is completely dark in the room. have no lights on in the room or the tank
it must be total darkness
take a flashlight or cellphone light and light up the anemone until it the clown hosts it. it took about 15 minutes for my old clowns to host in my old tank.

i had waited days and they paid it no mind, once i did this, they hosted it quick.

No. Its always a gamble. I have 3 clowns, 3 nems, they all host. They didn't always, but the mated pair seemed to move in first. Time is your ally.
