Clownfish and Frogspawn

I was wondering if anyone knew how long it takes for a Clownfish to host in frogspawn, we have a large frogspawn unit (thanks to a friend) and we are wondering if all Clownfish tend to host? Any help would be appreciated!

Mine never took to my frogspawn in the 2 years prior to my first anemone. Of course these are Occs and I don't know if they were wild caught. Frankly, the few times they took any interest, the frogspawn would not fully extend out and did not look as cool.

It took my clowns 3 months before they went into the RBTA (plus another 3 months before the male took to it as well). When it is not the natural habitat of the clownfish, it is really hit and miss. But certain species are more likely to find a host quickly than others. What kind do you have?

we have a Occs as well. We really hope that it will host the frogspawn but I totally agree that the frogspawn isn't as pretty if not fully extended. Would you recommend getting a RTBA? would that be the best chance for our Occs to have a home?

BTA is not the natural host for Occs. But I believe their natural hosts are among the hardest anemones to keep. I would say the Occs are more likely to choose an anemone as a host than choosing frogspawn. But that does not mean it will happen. I would say that it will probably happen in time. Especially if you have a pair and the female is getting sexually mature. Really, there are other species that seem to take almost anything as a host (or at least any anemone).

BTW, here is a list of clowns that naturally occur with BTAs:
A. akindynos
A. allardi
A. bicinctus
A. chrysopterus
A. clarkii
A. ephippium
A. frenatus
A. latezonatus
A. mccullochi
A. melanopus
A. omanensis
A. rubrocinctus
A. tricinctus
P. biaculeatus
