I have a couple questions and concerns about my clownfish. I picked up two from a local breeder and they were both in good condition. Both exhibited this behavior but unfortunatey the smaller one died. I am not sure but he was pretty small and didn't eat much. But the larger is still doing good. She eats flake and cyclopeeze and the occasional mysis when I can get her to hit at them.
My QT tank is a 10 gallon with an AC50. She hangs out behind where the water overflows back into the tank. Stays at the surface of the water and swims upside down. This of course is alarming to me but, she eats, she will right herself and chase down food that is close. But she swims perfectly upside down.
When I first had the pair they both did this. I was concerned about swim bladder problems and was franticly searching RC for a cause and a cure. A few post told me that this is normal behavior for clownfish. That they are posturing towards each other and mimicing. Well on a whim I turned off the strip light and they flipped over. I turned the light back on and they went upside down. I thought I had figured it out. But sometimes they would flip over with the light on so that shot that theory out.
From what I can tell the fish appears to be health. No labor breathing. What can I do to get the fish to swim right ALL the time and to explore the depths of the tank. There is places for her to hide, a big 3 inch PVC T. I have had her in the QT tank 2 weeks, mainly just to aclimate and observer her. She came from a breeder and shows no signs of disease. I would like to get her into my main tank in a week or so but want to make sure she will be able to survive in there. There is no other fish in the main tank yet, but there is a Green Bubble Tip that hopefully she will host in.
Any thoughts?
Thanks
