Clownfish breeding Questions...

I a going to post my questions here and in the clownfish forum.

I am strongly considering breeding my clownfish. After reading mountains of material (including many threads here) I have decided it is something I could realistically do, I am still unsure about one or two parts of the process.

For the larvae tank, I have seen some pictures of a Kreisel, is this necessary to have?

Also, once, if every, the larvae reach the metamorphism/grow-out stage, what kind of tank size will I be looking at? How many baby's could I have in say a 5 gallon tank?

Thanks for any feedback, this is probably still down the road aways, but I want to know if it is even something I could do.

1. No the kreisel is not necessary, I small 5 gallon tank works just fine.

2. I kept 50+ tomato clowns in a 5 gallon tank for 2 months and then transferred them to a 10 gallon, where they remain for the time being. Some are 1.25 inches in length.

Have fun!

As Landlord said the Kreisel is definately not necessary, I use 7G tanks initially half full.

I have just moved 430 Onyx Percula x B&W Ocellaris from one of my 7G tanks to my growout system at 3 - 4 weeks old. I usually put around 200 clowns in a 30G tank on my system. This gives a decent growth rate but lets me keep a good number of clowns.

Good luck.

Yes & yes to landlord & gpsmart.I start with 5 gal tanks & move up to 10 gal tanks at 1 month if their is any open tanks. You need the live rotifers & the green water to have success.
