Clownfish breeding

Thanks guys we have been really fortunate when it comes to the help and clowns we have gotten . Still trying to configure a grow out system to handle the amount of fish we will need. So far just a couple of 20ls with filters to get us started. If you plan on just getting 1 or 2 pair a couple of 20ls will work. Our growout setup is going to have to handle up to 14 breeding pairs in the near future. Just something to keep in mind.

If you have 14 pairs breeding at the same time you will have to hire a crew of people and move out of the basement into warehouse. You should do some research and business planning before you try and expand too fast. A lot of people have grandiose ideas that they can make money breeding clowns when in fact 99.9% fail. Not to rain on your parade. Just want you to know the reality of the business. Good luck!!

14 pairs will be a lot of work. I have a pair of picassos breeding, I'm currently raising my first clutch, and it's keeping me pretty busy. I have a total of 4 pairs and I wouldn't have the time or space to keep up with all of them. I really envy you guys with the space to do something of that scale. It's not stoping me from collecting more pairs though, lol, I have room for 2 more pairs.

Please post some details of your progress once you get them going. It's nice to bounce some ideas back and forth with someone who is also breeding. I have a thread of my progress going on my club forum if you'd like to check it out. http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2424300

Sorry for the misunderstanding our breeding setup can hold 14 pairs of fish right now, we have 5 or 6 pair close to breeder size others are too small but we're picked for their patterns and we plan to let them grow in there. So far we have 3 guys in including myself, one has prior breeding experience, breeding was too much for 1 guy to handle by himself. The biggest thing with our setup is space, we are very limited which is effecting our growout system, the couple tanks we have can handle a couple of clunches thats about it.

Once we start raising the larva we will post more and definitely bounce some ideas around.

Can't wait to hear about it. I just had my second hatch last night. I tried to read as much as I could about raising clowns but there is nothing like actually doing it, that's the best way to learn.
