so today my clowns have been hanging around their host more than usual and have been cleaning a spot all day cleaning off the sand does this usually indicate spawning comes soon?

it could be they are about to spawn. but they could do this for days to months before they do. just keep a eye out

ok thanks! and it could be im just hoping they will so i see what i want to haha but today the female started chasing the male nippin at his tale and he will swim away and then turn around and then like push her back kind of? but not aggresivlly i dont know if this has anything to do with mating though

I find they clean the sand around their nem at a fairly young age, it's a start, but for me it was when they cleaned a rock nearby, something solid to lay eggs on that spawning was soon to follow.
I tuck a small rock slightly under their nem for this, also makes it easy to train them to lay on something you can pull easily should you decide to collect eggs down the road.

oh if it was sand i wouldnt think anything of it but the nem is on a rock with a little crevice next to it and thats what they are cleaning, again could and probobly am wrong

mine two percs are always cleaning the rocks either above or below their nem but no eggs. Just not sure at what age they start to actually breed.
