Clownfish coloring

I have had my clownfish for about 2 months now and I've noticed he has been getting more black on him and I'm wondering if that's normal or a tank issue.

I only have the 1 fish in the tank with multiple soft corals and snails and hermit crabs and 1 emerald crab.

Is the clown hosting a coral and it is getting black spots? This pigmentation color change happens typically from being stung by the coral. Sometimes it's permanent.

Or are you referring to it overall getting darker? It could be maturing, metamorphosis to female or just that strain of clownfish.

Do you mean with "Clownfish" A. percula or is this another Amphiprion species?
Percula may get more black as they mature or if you put them in a carpet anemone.
You can have the same effect to some degree with ocellaris.
Many other Amphiprion species also have melanistic forms, usually when they are hosted by Stichodactyla anemones.
