clownfish for BTA

I was looking through the list of clownfish that will host a BTA, and I'm trying to figure out which of those species are of the orange/black with white stripe variety. I think I've seen clarkiis that are like that. I like the black/white clownfish, but see those mostyl as ocellaris or perculas. Aside from maybe the clarkii what else will host a BTA and can be found in those colors?

Have you ever heard of Live Aquaria? They have names and pictures so you can see what they look like.

There is no guarantee that any clown will host in any anemone. Most do, but some just don't care. Some even use a coral like frogspawn or hammer to use as a host.

You can always attempt to pair the Black/white occis with a BTA, but it may not work out .

My sebae is mostly black, with some orange and white stripes, he associates with BTA's immediately.

Clarkii sounds close to what you're looking for in terms of color. BTAs are natural hosts for clarkii clowns, so you can pretty much bet a clarkii would go into your BTA. Clarkiis are somewhat aggressive and love to dig, however, if you locate your BTA higher up in the rock work, the clown will be much less inclined to dig. It's when their anemone is close to the sand/gravel (assuming you have any in your tank) that they dig and blow sand all around.

I have bought many fish from live aquaria so I looked there first but I know they don't show all possible color variations.

As for clarkii that's what I'm leaning towards now. I don't mind if they dig. I have a diamond goby so I'm used to it. Heh.

What about sebae? Clarkii or sebae I think.

Let me mention the rest of my fish. It's a 75g.
Mccoskers flasher wrasse
2 Banggai cardinals
3 black axil chromis
Bartletts anthias
Diamond goby
Two-spot bristle tooth tang
CUC, rose bta, lps, sps, leathers, etc


Any compatability issues?

Haddon's anemone is Amphiprion sebaes only natural host, but Tmoriarty said his associated with BTAs immediately. If you want a sure bet, clarkii is naturally hosted by BTAs.

I bought my sebae out of a tank at the LFS that had BTA's and already saw him hosted, he is with a haddoni right now though, lol. (or should I say she), shes definately been in there long enough to sex change. Perhaps your best bet is to find a LFS that keeps nems and clowns and has the clowns with the nems.

Also there is a lot of breeders who introduce BTA's to clowns early to get them to associate, either way buying a clown that is associating with BTA's already should help. That does not by any means mean they will associate with your bta's though, they could always ignore them.

Do all clarkiis eventually turn black or develop that pretty black color mix?
