Hi - A few days ago I purchased from another reefer his paired clownfish + RBTA/chunk of live rock. The clownfish literally were hiding out in the RBTA as the RBTA was pulled out of the tank and put in a bucket. The clownfish were then netted and put in a separate container.
I drove about 1 mile to my place and first acclimated the clownfish for about 30 minutes and put them into the tank and then the RBTA for about an hour. The next morning the RBTA moved a bit from its position, but the clownfish were hanging out in a candy cane coral. A couple days later, and the clownfish don't seem to notice the RBTA and are definetly hanging out in the candy cane.
I guess the clownfish can do whatever they want that makes them happy, but will they ever noticed the RBTA and will they prefer the RBTA over other things in the tank? I bought the RBTA since I didn't want to deprive the clowns of their home! Are there any ways to get them to stop hanging out in the candy cane - I guess I could just move it out of the tank (into another tank) and then the clownfish would be forced to look around for a new hangout.
thanks in advance for any insight! As an aside I am awaiting a live rock shipment and will soon be moving things around the tank, including the candy cane coral along with its rock.
