Clownfish hanging out in the corner...forever?

I have two snowflake clowns that were added to my tank roughly a year ago. (160 gal) They have never really left the corner of the tank other than feeding. They will chase food, but after eating, return to their corner. Their are plenty of corals/inverts that could play host (two large BTA's underneath of them, etc)

Everything in the tank including the fish all play well with each other and have no problems. It appears they have just taken a liking to the top corner of the tank.

Has anyone had any experience with encouraging them to move? They seem to be clownfish, just being clownfish. They are beautiful fish, but the two of them piling on each other in the corner is a little boring. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Looks like they have established a "territory" in that spot. You can try to place an object such as a net or breeder box in that area in order to try to displace them in the hopes they set up shop somewhere else.

My 2 clowns have done the same for 2 years, claimed a corner of the tank and only leave to feed..I really want to try an anemone to lure them away to the middle of the tank...

hahaha good luck with that. When I had my anemone the clowns were in it ALL the time except to feed. Your clowns will go wherever the nem goes. Sooooo how you expect to lure the nem to the middle of the tank?

Try spot feeding in the opposite corner of the tank. That will get them used to coming over for feeding time and get more acclimated to the tank and inhabitants.

Do you cut off the waterflow when feeding? This is a sign for mine to go to front center, because 'the food guy is coming.'

Basket training them is one of the worse things.

If they do not have an appropriate layer they will get stung.
They need to be able to feel safe around it, not scared of it.

I have seen a clown that was 1/2 covered in stings from a ritteri.

Okay I have a funny story about that actually. I read this as well and didn't believer it. However.........

I got really little under an inch baby clowns that were six months old. They were little under an inch. They couldn't swallow the 1mm pellets that I bought for them so I ended up crushing the pellets between 2 spoons and feed them the dust. They loved it and gobbled up the pieces. So I've heard it's really hard to get captive raised clowns to host. Well I found the longest video I could find of OCC clowns hosting an anemone on youtube. I hooked up my old Xoom tablet to play the video and put it right next to the tank. Probably about a foot away so the image was watchable. Took two days and then I could only get them to leave if it was food time.
