Clownfish hosting question

My LFS has a pair of true percs that i am considering getting. They were in a nano tank of an employee for the last 2+ years. He said they never hosted anything because he never had anything in the tank for them to because of the tank size.

I want them to host in my carpet but are they LESS likely than other percs to host since they have been in a tank for over 2 years not hosting in an anemone?

Or are they just as likely to host as any other percs as soon as they see the anemone?

Would really appreciate your opinions/experiences!

My opinion regarding anemone hosting clowns is its all instinct. Whether the fish is tank breed and never seen an anemone, or the fish have been in the tank for the longest time without an anemone once a compatible or available anemone is present they'll go to it. It may take time sometimes but I think they will. The fish instinct to be with an anemone always run in their genes.

Anyway if your carpet is gigantae the transition will be fast, but with haddoni might take a while.

There is no true way to tell until you put them together . Some will host within minutes or hours . But then some will take months or won`t host at all . But there are a few tricks to try and get them to host .

I say go for it , depending on the carpet you have , it might happen quicker than you think .

According to the guy, one clown was wild caught and one clown tank raised.

Heres my anemone. I'm a coral guy and don't have much anemone experience but it's gigantea, correct?
