Clownfish hosting

Well, I went and bought a torch for my clownfish a couple of weeks ago, and now the clown is hosting.....a patch of cyano on my frag rack....:thumbdown

Sure I glad I plunked that chunk a change down on the torch :hmm4: I have to admit it is pretty cure watching the clown cuddling with a patch of algae though.

The interesting thing is that he/she didn't start hosting until about a week after I introduced a partner. Now the one clown spends most of the day rolling around in the algae patch.

There is absolutely no way to control what your clownfish will host with (if anything). IME, location matters almost as much as what the material is. I've seen clownfish ignore just about every type of coral and anemone that they are "supposed" to host in.
If you got a nice torch, then it wasn't a waste.
