Clownfish issue or paranoia on my part?

well.... I donno either. but actually if you read thru my old thread above mine started getting stringy poop. (yyou can see it in that pic) It happened the day b4 she started eating agian. The advice given was to not treat for iunternal parasites because it might be related to her illness. After she started eatting it wasent stringy anymore and I never treated her for it.

Im sure its case by case. But nurse him well, hell b ok.

He's starting to regain energy it looks like. He was finally out swimming in the current again. We'll see how he looks tomorrow :)

eating yet? try cyclopeze or live brine maybe?

Maybe suck out uneatten food so it cant sneek and you can make sure hes getting better?

Woohoo!!! Food hit the water today, and he was like a greyhound out of the gate! Flying all over trying to snatch it up. At both cylopheeze and super tweaked flakes.

4 days of Maracyn 2, and 2 days of metronidazole.

I'll let him relax and gain some strength for at least another two days. I'll then let him back in the 180 with his mate and see how he does. She still appears to have no signs what so ever.

amazing. u literally got the exact same results as me!!
How long does it say to treat with maracyn? I cant remember. But id treat him as long as it says.

Is he still pooping white? Mine only did for 1 day.

Very glad to hear it!!

I have two kinds, one is a powder that is added to the water, and one is the gel. Both I think are only 3 or so days, so he's about at the end.

i dont have access to mediazole, but my local fish store should have both of the marycns, which ones should i use??? I am in luck, since my clown just started displaying this behavior this afternoon, exactly the same thing is going on. I have 10 gallon tank that i am inthe process of setting up as sump, but that will have to wait since i need a quarantine. please help, i really dont want to loose this fish!

I don't know which one fixed it. I started with the maracyn2, then hit him with some metronidazole when I saw his poop was white/stringy.

There is probably an online retailer within 1 day ground shipping that has metronidazole in stock inf your LFS does not stock it. Mine was petsolutions.

Honestly, a clown can go a long time with internal parasites and wouldewnt have displayed the symptoms yours did.
(My juvi was wild caught and had them about 2 weeks before i started treatment, and was very healthy)

I really believe it was the antibiotic that helped him.

Ive never heard of internal parasites causeing heavy breathing or non eatting. (eatting more actually because the parasites are stealing all the food inside him)

hu. ok. did the stringy poop come first or second? If first, you def need to treat for internal parasites as well!!

couple options... petsmart carrys it, and some lfs's. the gel tek internal parasite treatment... I put it on food then fed the fish..
Or if you have a lil time order the same drugs listed above (praz and/or metronidazole)

second, the fish has been heavily breathing, sedate and not feeding, i noticed that stingy feces after these symptoms. i agree that internal parasites should not cause increased resperation, so i think its a bacterial infection

yeah. then just stick to the maracyn2 for now and after the eating starts back up keep an eye on its poop maybe the second or third day after eating begins. (I read somewhere its about 25-30 minutes after they eat)

good luck :) maracyn2 is a life saver

My bugger juvi used to swim up the hang on filter and poop so it would always get sucked away b4 i had a chance to look lol
