Hay y'all my clownfish laid eggs about a hour ago and I witnessed it all go down. This is there second batch and there is about double the amount of eggs this time. I have got my Rotifers culture going, and am trying to get some plankton cultures going.

Here is a few pics

Instead of growing your own plankton I really recommend buying some rotigrow plus from Reed. It's a mixture of enriched phytoplankton with an ammonia blocker that you can store in your fridge and lasts for months. It's just one less hassle for you.

This is the 9 th day since the eggs was laid.Is it normal for them to not hatch on the 8 th day? Last time they didn't hatch until the 10 th morning not at lights out but when the lights came on and the parents ate them. Is there anything I can do to make them hatch on the 8 th nights on lights out.

What is this shiny object on the tank bottom?
Are you planning on removing the rock with eggs from the tank to a separate tank?
Otherwise there is no chanse in hell you will be able to grow fry in the main tank...

When I was rising maroon clownfish I always removed eggs from the tank the day or two before expected hatching and moved them to an empty 5 gallons aerated tank for hatching.

That was a peice of tile I tried to get them to lay on but they keep pushing it over right before they lay the eggs. I will try to remove the fry after they hatch.

Thank will do. Tonight is the 7 th night. Going to check on them in a few. Hopefully it will be hatching tonight or tommorrow night.

I lost most of them last night due to heater not getting as hot as what I had it set. Needs to be 80 I think it was close to76-78 when I checked it at 5:30 this morning. I tried to count what was left I think there is only 13. This is only the 3 batch of eggs and the first batch to hatch out so I am sure I will have many more chances since they lay close to 250 every 14 days. Learning and getting further alone each batch I have.

It probably wasn't the heater. The eggs just didn't produce strong enough larvae. The batches start producing good larvae at around 4th or 5th batch depending on the age of our clowns. Feed your clowns NLS Thera A+, this is something that was recommended to me.

Where can I get it and what exactly is it? Ya u told me that once before I just wanted to test out the next stage since i am learning as I go. That way when the good batches get here I might have a fighting chance. Thanks for all the help though. When should I start feeding baby brine shrimp, I think I read somewhere 3 rd day mixed with the Rotifers. How old is to old on the brine shrimp to feed to new larval after the few days on Rotifers? I still have 11 left tonight.

Got only 2 fry left. They r eating baby brine shrimp, which I am hatching. Also got new eggs tonight. Laid another 200 or so. Also need to know what to feed the left over brine so I can use them to feed the reef.
