Clownfish lost mate and now is hanging out in corner

Hi,

A little over a month ago I bought a couple of ocellaris (I believe) clownfish. One of them went missing a couple of weeks ago. I took tore apart the tank and sump but couldn't find it anywhere. The one that remains is staying in the upper back left corner of the tank where the return for the sump is located. It swims at what looks like an exhausting pace. is something wrong this guy? Thanks!

My Calcium always seem to be a little low about 325. ALK is typically 140-150. MG is about 1300. The water temp is 79, maybe too high? I'll take a picture later when my wife gets home with the cell phone. So this isn't normal behavior for a clownfish? (I'm relatively new to this. The tank has been up for 4 months).

did this behavior begin after you lost the other clownfish? if so, I'd consider getting a friend for the one you have and chances are you would see a change.

Did anything get introduced into the tank, 4-6 weeks before the other clown dying? Anything wet counts from another tank/system.

The parameters that you listed are not as important for fish as they are for corals. How are your ammonia, nitrate, nitrite and ph levels? Temperature is fine. Many of us here keep it at 80 and above.

The behavior of the fish did begin after the other died. I bought another and they are hanging out together. The strange behavior of the clown fish stopped. It doesn't hang out in the corner. Good suggestion on getting a new friend. They really seem to be getting along.

My ammonia is zero. I use Salifert test kit. My nitrites are 21 ppb. I use Hanna hand checker for that. The nitrate is hard to read. I have an API test kit but it is at the low end of the spectrum.

Thanks everyone.
