clownfish make noises

noises like small rock banging ?
I kept hearing an odd noise like they were banging a small rock I had in their tank into the glass. but couldn't see how that's possible.

Then I read today they can make noise themselves.

What do they actually sound like? do yours make noise?

I hear my Percs and occ making the clicking noise.It is the female that is doing it.

Can this noise be confused with a mantis? I had a mantis in my tank which i removed. Now i still hear some clicking, but a lot less loud than the mantis' sound. I wonder if it could be my clownfish after reading this thread?

It's not as loud as a mantis or pistol shrimp.sounds like two rocks hitting together really fast. I hear my Percs half way across the room.

Bet ya got a pistol shrimp as a hitch hiker they can be tiny when they get I to your tank. Add anything new lately?

Nope only have two baby clowns. nothing else. one is female, bossy and larger. kinda beats up on the smaller one at feeding time, he rolls over and flutters. They are supposed to be 10 mos old now.
I dont have any live rock. Its too expensive and I dont want to grow corals etc , yet anyhow..so no hitch hikers that way.
So. the noise is definitely coming from the Clown fish . I thought they were rearranging the small decoration rocks , banging it against the glass. then I read they can make noise..... Youtube says they can BARK !! HA
I used CaribSea’s Arag-Alive!™ substrate and Instant Ocean Sea Salt and some coral type FAKE decorations and of course a filter, heater, Hydrometer etc.

How old are yours to hear it all the way across the room?

My Percs are 3 years old , they are snow onyx . My occs are 10 years old

I was always thinking where the sound come from in the tank. Now I read this it's coming from my clown. The strange is that it's only doing at night.
