Clownfish not hosting with anemones

I'm just getting started with my first saltwater tank, so be gentle. :)

I have two ocellaris clownfish that I had in my tank before my anemones (long-tentacle anemone and bubble-tip). The clownfish haven't started hosting, and don't seem to have any interest in doing so.

Is there typically any amount of time that it takes for a clownfish to start hosting with an anemone? Is there any downside to it not hosting?

neither the LTA nor the BTA are natural hosts for your A.Ocellaris clownfish...basically you should allow the clownfish the time to find either of them on there own.
this can take days, weeks and even months before the clowns select a host anemone.

would enjoy seeing some pix of your clowns and nems as well as hearing more about your new SW aquarium ;)

I feel ya! My Ocellaris clowns have no interest in my GBTA, LTA, or RBTA. In the wild Ocellaris clowns are hosted by ritteri , and S. Gigantea. Not to say you won't get lucky but I haven't, and it's been just about a year.

I have ocellaris clowns hosting in my LTA. A prior pair I had hosted in my GBTA so hope isn't all lost!

After 2-3 weeks, my ocellaris went to my GBTA. I did nothing but wait patiently. When and if it does happen you will be very happy.

After 3 years my clowns haven't claimed anything. I once had an empty conch shell in the tank they liked but that was it.

I have a female black clown who has stared 1 inch away from my res rose anenome for months. She stares but just wont go in wondering if my anenome crab might be scaring her off
