Clownfish not interested in BTA

My pair of true percs that I've had for 4 months are not interested in my BTA. is there anything I can do to entice them? All are doing well otherwise.

Hello I had my nem for a couple months before my clowns even looked at it. After awhile the female dove in now the male is too. My advise is just wait. You could always put them in a collander together that way they have no choice but to get together. Bill

Didn't i read some where about taking one of those nori clips that looks like nemo and putting it by the anenome? No, i'm not crazy but they said it worked.

Maybe I'm not being patient enough, but I'm about ready to try the clip trick.

What if I started feeding the clowns near the anenome?

ya mine took months and then boom one day they wouldn't leave it.

to be honest I'm not sure what i prefere . was kinda cool to have them as free swimmers rather than just stay in the rbta all the time.

try a laser pointer. If your fish are attracted to it you may be able to coax them into the anemone. Make sure you don't reflect the laser off the glass into your eyes though! :eek1:

(Or into the fish's eyes for that matter)

try putting a picture of clowns hosting in your type of anemone where the anemone is and this is supposed to be like suggested hosting. just tape it to the glass.

It took my clowns over a year until they hosted my bta. I think like most things in this hobby it just takes patience.

I also just got an RBTA 10 days ago... my ocellaris plays very close to it, even swims through the tentacles, but I haven't seen him actually touch it. Comes within a centimeter all the time, kind of like foreplay:p

Not sure what the deal is, I keep waiting for him to touch it. Stop teasing me already! haha.

Keep us updated,
Angela

DOn't point the laser directly in the BTA. It might kill the Zooanthellae algae living in it.

Those little hand-held lasers don't have enough energy to do damage here, especially if you're using the red ones. I wouldn't worry about that too much.

Im having the same problem lol. My BTA is like 3 inches away from my clowns' fav. spot and they wouldn't even check the anemone out

finally, 2 days ago, the percs decided to hang out with one of my anenomes. it was worth the wait! what fun to see the little clowns grab food and take it to their favorite anenome.

I actually have 4 anenomes at this point. I bought one, then got a second from someone shutting down a tank, then the first one split, and then, last week, one of the clones split.

Also, FYI, it took 5 months of the clowns and anenome being in the tank together before they joined up.
