Well I did a big no no. I went and purchased a clownfish from the lfs and I was busy talking to one of the employees and I didn't watch the guy pick out my clownfish and didn't look at it close when it was in the bag. I got home and took it out of the bag only to notice that its gill cover (I dont know what else to call it) it missing a chunk but it is healed up. I live about 3 hours from this fish store but wanted to know if there is anything to worry about. It's gills are all intact and inside with no bulging. Does this part ever grow back or will he be this way forever. Also the guy picked me out for one of my other tanks a sebae anemone and I guess he had problems because he couldn't get him out and was pulling on him by the tentacles. The store manager came over and told me I could have the anemone for 1/2 of what they quoted me because he (pinched) the tentacles and they look a little bad. What usually happens with this also?

I believe the missing gill cover is a birth defect and though it will never grow in, does not affect the health of the fish.

Pinched tentacles in itself is not a problem if the anemone is healthy.
