Clownfish Pair - Want to breed

Okay, so I really did not know which forum to put this in, but I thought this might be okay. I would like to eventually breed clownfish down the road, but I also really want to have a nice little couple. I have four different tanks and in my 55 gallon I have a black and white perc and a normal ocellarius. Will they ever breed?

Second question, in another tank I would like to get a picasso and possibly a black ice or snowflake? I reallize that once again one is a perc and one is an ocellarius, if I got them small and put them in together as the only fish, would they possibly pair and breed?

I know it all depends on the fish and the environment, but can percs and occ. breed with each other?

Yes, it is possible. A snow onyx is a cross between an onyx(perc) and snowflake(occy).

Can they? Yes. Will they? Who knows!

In your first tank, you have 2 ocellaris -- the black and white one is an ocellaris, and not a perc.

Could be an onyx. Some people call them black & white perculas (incorrectly).

To the OP, in general, two clowns of the same complex, especially one as close as the percula and ocellaris, will breed given time. It's what they're programmed to do. I had four perculas in a 75 gl once. Two matched up and with the third they kept attacking the smaller 4th. I took the 3rd and 4th out and suddenly they matched up. It's instinct for them.

Okay that is good to hear. I wanted to get a fancy snowflake and a picasso and put them in the same tank, however, I doubt I will be able to get them at the same time, so I just wondered that if I got the picasso later if they stilll might become a pair.

I think its usually best to introduce them both at the same time to avoid any territorial issues.

Im not as knowledgeable as the others here, but i havent had any luck trying introduce a partner to mine after its been his tank for so long

As long as the second one is smaller and can be deemed a male or juvenile with relative certainty the two should match up. Maybe there will be a bit of bickering at first, but that usually settles down.
