When I compare this guy to my O&W ocellaris, this one has some unevenness to the clear, outer portion to the 2nd dorsal fin and his tail. The colored portion (black) seems frayed too. I am posting because my orange ocellaris' lines are very clean between colors, and the b&w is not.

Is this beginning stages of fin rot?

Also, my water parameters are very spot on. No one is bullying/biting this one. (he's a bully, though) I've had him about 2 months. I've got a UV on order and a QT starting as we (I) speak.

Thanks for looking.

Could be the beginning of a bacterial infection (fin rot). I would try to get him to fight it off in the main with adding vitamins to his food. But if it gets much worse have antibiotics on hand and be prepared to move into a HT and treat.

Foods like mysis, Rod's or Larry's, NLS pellets, etc soaked in Selcon, Zoecon or VitaChem. I believe there is a stickie on Food Nutrition.
