Clownfish question

I apologoze if this is already asked amd covered but I am stuck on my phone tonight and am worried I will forget to search later. We a pair of clowns in our tank. They have been in there probably for about three weeks give or take a few days. At night they seem to stick together and hover around my magfloat which i find funny. I know they host random things when there isn't a coral there to host. Now to my question. Is it normal for them to stay together at night and then kind of go their own way during the day whole they are pairing up?

If there are some threads on this I can't find being stuck on my phone. I would appreciate any limks to them as I could read them and kill the time. Thank you.

Yes, clowns clump together at night, and go their separate ways during the day, it happens very frequently.

Thank goodness I was starti g to get concerned they weren't going to pair. They act like they are starting to pair up though. So I will leave it be and let them go a natural. As long as it is normal.

I come from the world of freshwater. Wife had to have the molies and they were together from the first second. So this is a whole new world to me, I love it and read read and re read everything I can find.

It is a hit and miss behavior. I am currently looking at one of my proven breeding pairs of Melanopus Clowns and the male and female spend about 60% of the day apart, but at night, they are in the pot together.

I have a pair of Platinums in another tanks and they hover at night on top of the mag float as well, but during the day they don't venture much more than a few inches away from each other.

I have a proven pair of Pisacco and they don't leave each other at all. I think they are physically bonded!

It depends on the tank and how comfortable they are I think. If you have a lot of "fun" places for them, some will be adventitious and others will be scared. IN the wild, they don't venture far from their home.

That is why most serious breeders will remove all items and place breeders in bare tanks, less distractions from the breeding!

Good luck, and post pics, always like seeing clowns!

Ok. I was starting to wonder if it had something to do with them not feeling threarened in the tank.

Since they stay together at night like everyone else's does I won't worry much then.
