Hey all,
I have a pair of Wyoming White Clownfish, the female is large at 3-4 inches and very bulky and the male is pretty small at 1.5-2 inches. I've had the pair for 9 months now. The last 2 weeks the female has been relentless with the male and constantly chasing him and ripping up his fins. The male is now looking pretty beat up with all his fins frayed and the female just wont let up. I'm now at the point where I'm considering removing the male and buying a new juvinile.
My question is should I remove the male at this point? I know clownfish are typically on the aggressive side with each other and I'm not sure if this behavior is normal. I've had the pair for 9 months and never has the female been this aggressive with the male. The tank is a 75g so there is ample room for the clowns.
I would appreciate some opinions on whether this is just a phase or should I remove the male. I find it quite odd that this behavior just randomly started. No new fish have been added and its defintely the female causing the damage to the male.
